What is Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement, also known as breast augmentation, is a surgical procedure designed to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts using implants. At La Belle Forme, we offer a tailored approach to breast enhancement, using high-quality implants and advanced surgical techniques to achieve natural-looking results.

Whether you’re looking to enhance your figure, restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss, or correct asymmetry, our experienced plastic surgeons will work with you to create a treatment plan that aligns with your personal goals and body proportions.

We offer a range of implant shapes, sizes, and placement techniques to suit your needs—and all procedures are carried out in our fully regulated clinical environment.

What Happens During Surgery?

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, where your surgeon will discuss your expectations, examine your anatomy, and help you choose the most suitable implant type and size.

On the day of surgery, you’ll receive general anaesthesia. The surgeon will make a small incision—typically under the breast fold, around the areola, or in the armpit—depending on your anatomy and goals. The implant is then inserted either above or below the chest muscle.

The incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches, and you’ll be fitted with a supportive post-surgical bra to aid healing.

Is Breast Enlargement Right For Me?

You may be a suitable candidate for breast enlargement if you:

  • Feel your breasts are too small or have lost volume
  • Desire better symmetry or contour
  • Are in good overall health and have realistic expectations

This procedure may not be suitable if you have certain health conditions or are planning pregnancy in the near future. All suitability will be assessed during your consultation.

  • Improved breast size, shape, and balance
  • Natural-looking results tailored to your goals
  • Boost in self-confidence and body image
  • Performed by experienced, GMC-registered surgeons in a regulated environment

All surgeries carry some degree of risk. With breast enlargement, these may include:

  • Swelling, bruising, or discomfort after surgery
  • Infection or delayed wound healing
  • Changes in nipple sensitivity (temporary or permanent)
  • Capsular contracture (scar tissue forming around the implant)
  • Implant rupture or the need for future revision

Your surgeon will discuss all risks in detail before your procedure to ensure you’re fully informed.

Post Lymphatic Drainage — Breast Augmentation Aftercare

Breast enlargement surgery involves the placement of implants beneath the breast tissue or chest muscle, creating swelling and bruising around the chest, underarm and sometimes the upper arm in the days and weeks that follow. Managing this swelling effectively is an important part of a comfortable and successful recovery.
Post Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is now available at La Belle Forme as part of our breast surgery aftercare offering. MLD uses feather-light, directional strokes along the lymphatic pathways of the chest, underarm and upper body to encourage the clearance of post-surgical fluid — reducing swelling, easing discomfort and supporting the healing tissue around the implants.
  • Reduces swelling, tightness and bruising around the chest and underarm area
  • Supports tissue healing around the implants during the critical early recovery phase
  • Helps reduce the risk of capsular changes by managing excess fluid and inflammation
  • Improves comfort and range of arm movement during recovery
  • Completely non-invasive and gentle — safe to begin within 48 hours of surgery
MLD can typically begin 48 to 72 hours after your breast enlargement procedure, subject to your surgeon’s guidance. Sessions are adapted to avoid direct pressure on the implants — your therapist will work around the chest area and along the adjacent lymphatic pathways to support drainage safely.

FAQ's

Breast implants typically last 10–15 years, but some may last longer. You’ll be advised to have periodic check-ups and may require implant replacement in the future.

The incisions are small and placed discreetly. With proper care, scars usually fade over time. Your surgeon will advise on scar care post-surgery.

Many women are able to breastfeed after breast augmentation, though this can depend on the surgical technique used. Your surgeon will discuss this during consultation.

Most patients can return to light activities within a week and resume full activity—including exercise—after 4–6 weeks, depending on recovery.
