Dr. Alastair McKay is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon with over a decade of medical and surgical expertise. He is listed on the GMC Specialist Register for Urology and holds a consultant post with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Dr. McKay offers comprehensive care in urology with a special interest in renal surgery and the management of kidney cancer.

Dr. McKay began his medical journey with a Master’s degree in Physiology before completing his MBChB at the University of Glasgow in 2011. After gaining foundational experience during his core surgical training, he was selected for the West of Scotland higher surgical training programme in Urology. He completed specialist training and was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in 2021.
He currently serves as part of the regional renal surgery team, managing complex kidney conditions, including cancers, through advanced surgical techniques such as robotic, laparoscopic, and open procedures. Dr. McKay also treats a wide range of benign urological issues in both men and women.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. McKay is deeply involved in teaching and research. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and a dedicated mentor to medical students and junior doctors. His research work is widely published, with over 30 contributions in urological and surgical journals.
Dr. McKay believes in patient-centred care and ensures that each individual is fully informed about their condition and treatment options. His compassionate and detailed approach makes him a valued and trusted member of the La Belle Forme team.
