The SK:N Group, one of the UK’s biggest cosmetic surgery providers, has collapsed.
The collapse of the popular High Street chain on Wednesday has shocked its customers and staff. The group, which has 70 branches across the UK, has
given little information on what is going to happen next. A message displayed on their website states all clinics have, “ceased trading” with immediate effect and that is doing “all” it can to address customer concerns.
Founded in 1990, the company expanded to locations in Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and had 17 clinics across London.
It also owned brands including the cosmetic surgery firm Harley Medical Group and the skin technology company ABC Medical, whose phone lines had the same automated message:
“Unfortunately as of July 17, the SK:N Group, including SK:N Clinics, the Harley Medical Group, Skinbrands, The Skin Experts and ABC Medical has ceased trading.”
Customers have yet to receive any information regarding refunds, with some having put down as much as £15,000 on prospective procedures.
A challenging five years for the industry
The last 5 years have been difficult for the aesthetics and cosmetic surgery industry. Clinics were unable to operate during lockdown. It has also been hit by higher costs and slower consumer spending, due to high inflation.
Smaller clinics have also sprung up across the country with medical professionals such as nurses and dentists broadening their scope to include aesthetic treatments. This has presented a challenge for some of the bigger industry players, like Sk:n Group.
